There is something about Sonaugi – something that hushes the din inside you as you enter its strong, silent air to look in the eye the spectacular white ranges of the Dhauladhars up above the Beas. At an altitude of 1920 M / 6300 ft, folded neatly away from swarming Manali, Sonaugi was the farm land of the nearby villagers who are said to have found golden wheat growing here and so named it Sona-ugi (Land of the Golden Crop). And here, set amidst towering Himalayan Cedars (Deodar) on three sides and apple orchards on one, you’ll find the Sonaugi Homestead, painstakingly hand-built by Italian architect Eris Binda in the traditional Kath-Kuni construction style to blend seamlessly with rustic charms of it surrounds. With large yet cozy, well-appointed rooms and beautifully designed bathrooms, the Homestead offers you all the simple creature comforts and warm hospitality that makes it the perfect haven to soak up the magic of lush tranquility, or to even go exploring around.
The Homestead offers 5 well-appointed, comfortable rooms. The Tariff includes all meals, services etc.
Sonaugi is about 560 km from Delhi by road. You can drive via, or even fly down till, Kullu from where the Homestead is less than an hour’s drive.
Our suggestion is to lie low in Sonaugi. Just be. Soak in the silences. There is a small library from which guests find the occasional read – but strong recommendation is to bring your own books that you’ve long waited to delve into, in peace. But if you choose to seek activity, there are quite a few short walks and hikes that we’d be happy to organise:
A Walk to the Beas
A delightful walk through Cedar lined paths up to the Beas river flowing down in the valley, just 20 minutes away.
Janna Village Walk
As you climb up the kuccha path from the Homestead, you will reach Janna village in an hour. Janna is among the oldest villages of the valley – although most of the residents have moved down to Arcchandi on the left bank of the Beas.
If you so wish, we can even organise longer hikes and treks for you, including: Chandrakhani-Malana Trek, Sonaugi-Nashala Walk, Nashala-Naggar Walk
The per double per night tariff includes:
IMP: extra cost will be charged for any F & B other than that served at the buffet table for meals included in the plan.
However, at all places excellent 4G connectivity is available on Airtel & Jio networks
